Sept 7

Roll from Falling Water @ 8:00.  Short warmup then climb Mtn Road.  Down Hotwater, Hixson Pike to Armstrong, then Lee Pike.  (Yes we know what is gonna happen when we see the yard with the big fence.). Left at the end and then we wind around to the bottom of Leggett and make our way back.  Let’s call it 58 miles and 3800 feet.  Strong men add a climb up Hotwater at the end to get to a metric and 4500.

Labor Day Weekend

TB AND ELITES roll for a joint ride Saturday (8/31) @ 8:00 from Unum.     Old Three State Three Mountain metric course.     Regroup after Suck, at the bait shop (only store stop), and at the end of 299.    Those wanting more can follow BeelzeBub up Lookout to Sanders (yes, we know he’s goin’).    Post ride refueling again at the UJ where I understand a sign is now posted reading “No fluorescent compression socks.”  (003, really?)    A metric and 3700 feet.  Back before 12.  Map link below.

TB AND ELITES roll for the holiday ride Monday @ 8:30 from Unum.    Typical route up Missionary with a twist after Missionary to get to the battlefield since there’s some kind of parade.   (We know from Jacket’s altercation with the Shriner’s mini-cars during the Signal parade a few years ago, and the time the people threw things at us during the Soddy parade, that Bubba doesn’t do well in parades.)   Let’s call it 45 miles and 2500 feet.

Sat. 8/17

Roll at 8:00 from the Aldi on Signal Mtn Rd (yes, old timers, the old Kmart).     We’ll head north for a climb up Retro, HON (ouch!), the 10 longest miles across Mowbry, down Montlake and back.   REGROUP AT THE SWITCHBACK TO THE LEFT WHERE IT FLATTENS OUT ON TOP SO WE CAN ROLL THE 10 MILES ACROSS THE RETRO ROLLERS TOGETHER – TAKES FOREVER IF WE’RE SPREAD OUT.  70 miles, 4200 feet.   (Stop fussing, it’s the easiest I could make it with a climb up Retro from the KMart.)    If you don’t want that much pain, jump on in falling water which shaves it to a more manageable 50 miles.   Rolling the dice that the water is still on at the store on Retro, otherwise we’ll be in trouble with the first water stop not being until we finish the longest 10.    Safe bet may be to carry 3 bottles.   Post-ride refueling at Merv’s.

Sat 6/1

Bubba’s on vacation in Brevard. So if you’re not there you’re on your own this weekend.

5/25 and 5/27

Team Bubba heads to a more remote area this week in hopes of avoiding contact with civilized people. Roll Saturday from Falling Water at 8:30 for a trip up our old friend, Brayton Mtn. It’s a metric and only 3500 feet but it’ll feel like much much more.  Post ride refueling at Merv’s.   (Yes 3, we know.)

Roll Monday @ 9:00 from Unum for Holiday Ride. See map in rides list section of website.

5/18 STEADY IS STUPID

TB rolls from the St Elmo Food City (park at the side please) @ 8:30.    Over the Toe, out 299 (yes, regroup after the hill at the truck stop), over Ladd to South Pitt, and then up Jasper Highlands.   (I’ve never been up it and wished I hadn’t looked at the course profile.)   Back down, through Jasper, 299 back, with post-ride recovery at Zorro’s place unless we are too busy burning down Steady’s house.   A metric and 4100 feet.

Saturday 4/13 STUPID STEADY’S SATURDAY

Weather permitting roll from the St Elmo Food City (park at the side please) @ 8:30.   Over the Toe, out 299 (yes, regroup after the hill at the truck stop), over Ladd to South Pitt, and then up Jasper Highlands.   (I’ve never been up it and wished I hadn’t looked at the course profile……..)   We’ll then retrace our path back home, with post-ride recovery at Zorro’s place unless we are too busy burning down Steady’s house. A metric and 4100 feet.

CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER.

Saturday 2/16

Well when you get an email from Bub One that starts, “Sweetie’s leaving me unsupervised again this weekend,” you know it’s going to be good. Roll from Bub One’s house on Burnt Mill Road at 9 am for what he calls, a “no climb” metric route on mostly familiar roads. While we’ll start from Bub’s house we’ll go north first so if you want to meet us at the intersection of Burnt Mill and Salem Rd. that’s your prerogative, but knowing how we finished his email, “and I have plenty of Beers in the fridge on the back porch for, ya know…after” might change your mind on where you park. Route basically meanders through north Georgia but you might want to check the map especially if you’re not sure where his house is.

Saturday 2/9

Roll @ 12 from H&A (TB and Elites).  (It’ll be a balmy 37 by then.) We’ll judge temp, wind speed,  and barometric pressure then and decide on a route – okay, okay, the determination won’t be made by any of that but instead only by how cold our toes are. Count on either the Survival Sunday route or the North Chatt hills routes. If we select Survival Sunday we may switch the direction of the loop up north if traffic is heavy – I know we just climbed Hotwater but if the group is large and traffic heavy seein’ as how it will be mid-day we may want to avoid having hurtful things yelled at us on Montlake.  If we do Survival Sunday those wanting more could climb Signal on the way back through which will put you in the 65+ range.
