Bubba’s Fireworks (7/4)

Assuming the weather doesn’t make Bubba’s fireworks duds, roll Tuesday at 9:00 from the BeezleBub Ranch – 1546 Burnt Mill Rd. Flintstone GA 30725.  Simmer down northerners – we know there have been lots of southern starts lately and we’ll make that up soon.   (We’ll stick to the map so easy to jump on in St Elmo, on Riverfront, or around Erlanger if you want to park north.  My money says Link rolls from Aldi!)

Bacon dogs, brats, fixins, and perhaps some Sweetie cobbler post ride!   BeezleBub and Sweetie can’t claim us as dependents just yet so make sure you hit the tip jar.  (Yes, that includes you $00.)

Please remember this is a base pace, holiday ride with the goal being to reconnect with folks, not snag KOMs.   If your head goes down it won’t be fireworks you hear, it’ll be me screaming hurtful things at you.

Here’s the map (starting at Food City so we’ll head there from Bub’s to do the loop):   https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36208471

Big Bubba thanks to BeezleBub and Sweetie for hosting again!

P.S.  Remember the giant crevasse in the bridge between Erlanger and Warner Park.   Despite our best efforts someone has flatted there like 5 years in a row.  Perhaps we finally get that monkey wrench off our back this year!  (You see what I did right there Steady?)

PPS  WE’LL UPDATE THIS TUESDAY MORNING IF IT’S RAINING SO CHECK BACK IF IT IS.

TB 7/1

Hello Bubbas.   Two good options this week:

Option 1:  Roll at 9:00 from Red Wolfe Grill in Cohutta Georgia for a Joint Ride.  (No, no, not that kinda joint since it’s in Georgia – a joint ride with SV!)    Supposed to be sweet roads – think Prison Prevention Ride.   A metric and 2700 feet.   Here’s the map:   BUBBA vs SV Metric – A bike ride in Cohutta, GA (ridewithgps.com)

Option 2:  Roll at 8:30 from Red Bank Elementary for a trip around the lake hoping the water makes it seem cooler.  Up Montlake, down Hotwater, and then the May/Lee/Armstrong loop we’ve been ignoring.   A metric and 3800 feet.   We’ll keep this moving but at a more gentle pace than usual to give the aching legs with 350 miles in them a bit of recovery.   Hopefully back in the A/C at MonkeyTown by mid-day.   Here’s the map (NOTE: MAP SHOWS START AT THE OLD K MART BUT WE’LL START JUST DOWN MTN CREEK RD AT RED BANK ELEMENTARY):   https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20096069

And yep, with this heat,  I really wanna go, well, you know……………    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NogPlgO7jng

Early Bubbas roll @ 4:00 from Whole Foods this week for the Hillz.  Probably even be Bubbas on the ridge by 3:00 waiting on the group to roll by.

See Other Rides for more Tuesday info.

Sat. 6/24

Bub will roll from St Elmo Food City at 8am and head to the Cove, up the mountain, and back via the top of Lookout Mtn (ouch) and down via Ochs Hwy. 68 miles and 4,400 ft of climbing.

TB 6/17

Roll this week at 8:30 from the St Elmo Food City for a Fly/MIB-led ride.   From Steady’s Campground (St. Elmo Food City) down past Trenton via the Creek Road & Byrd’s Chapel to within a half mile of the Alabama line, where we say oh heck no and wheel it north on Back Valley to climb Sand Mountain instead.  Hit the brow road and then down via Dugan Loop / Slygo to 299 and home.  60 mi even with a smidge under 4100 ft. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43264560

TB 6/10

Roll at 8:30 from Mike’s Hole.   Out Cummings, across the lake, East Valley, and up the back of Suck.   (Remember the stop lights coming down!)   For tapering Bubbas, 57 miles, 3800 feet.   Those who want more can turn onto the Bend just before the Cherokee tunnel to make it over a metric and 4000 feet.

TB Tuesday

Early Bubbas roll this week @ 4:00 from Red Bank for Hotwater loop.  No climb option for tapering Bubbas.

Regular ride rolls at 5:30.

See Other Rides for more info.

TB 6/3

Roll Saturday at 8:30 from Falling Water.    Up Mtn Road, across the 10-longest miles, and then the Hell of the North the hard way (ouch!).   Shouldn’t be much traffic on Mtn Rd since we’ll be there early, but let’s remember to be good citizens and stay single file.   We’ll spend lots of time up top and then descend Leggett to Stormer/Old Dayton (reverse direction from a few weeks ago) and back.  Great loop and we’ll shed a few degrees by staying on top a long time since it’s gonna be blistering.  Some folks are on tight schedules so we’ll keep this one moving with one store stop on top after the climb – hope to be back by 12:30.  (Around 50 miles back to the cars after the store stop so bring an extra bottle if you need one.)  It’s a metric and 3500 feet but it’ll feel like much, much more.

TB Tuesday

Early Bubbas leave this week from Whole Foods at: 4:00.

Regular ride leaves at 5:30 from Red Bank.
