Saturday 3/17/18

Delaying rollout until 10:30

Watching the rain forecast again for Saturday. Will delay the rollout time to 9:30 from the old Falling Water Elementary parking lot for a classic Bubba route. Head north towards Soddy and continue on Back Valley to climb Leggett. We’ll return via Hendon, Lewis Chapel, and Poe Rds. 55 miles and 3,500 ft of climbing. Come prepared as there’s not any good store stops along the route.

Watch this site Saturday morning for rain updates.

Tuesday Night Kick Off Elites Roll at 5:30

Day Light Savings Time is here so moving back to Red Bank. Need to communicate a few changes given current construction work.

  1. Taking a left at the end of Frontage due to RR crossing work. Right at Dayton Pike and then a right on Igou Ferry which puts us back on course.
  2. We’ll bypass Green Pond and the Foot Washing church for a few weeks until the days get long enough to include. Instead we’ll take Miller Rd,  Card Rd to Day Pike, cross over and Loop Rd to get to the bottom of Hotwater. (see map)
  3. It’s been reported that there is some road work on the 2nd turn on Levi Rd with some nasty gravel. No warning sign so be careful.
  4. As always Elites will regroup at end of Selcer Rd before left on Dayton Pike, end of Frontage, and at the Bank at the bottom of climb. Play nice I’m sure there will be some new folks joining.

Finally “No Stop Ride” aka NSR will roll at 5:45 and follow the same course. To roll with the Elites you’ll have to present your authorized Elite membership card…

Saturday 3/3/18

Fish and King are up for the Elites celebrating the Monster sighting but with a shorter option. We’ll ride together until we get to Jasper and then Elites will return via the Stair Steps instead of up the back of Suck. Full route just a little shorter at 65 miles, but if folks want to start in Tiftonia they can do that route and it’s 55 miles. Here’s the map for that option.

Saturday 2/22

We’ll keep it simple for Saturday. Joint TB/Elite ride rolls from Unum at 8:30. Basic route. Out Market St. through Flintstone, Marble Top, climb Hwy 136, and back via Creek Rd. Strongmen can climb Lookout at the end. Check the map if you intend jumping on somewhere other than the Unum start and for a couple of other fun wrinkles. King will be in charge. 56 miles and 3,000 feet of climbing.

Sunday February 18th

Roll Sunday @ 1:30 from the old Signal Rd Kmart or at 2:10 from the old Falling Water School. (Yes, I know we are wearing out the roads north of town but this route offers lots of places to jump on/off and less congested climbs. We’ll head south as soon as it stops raining every Saturday.) Climb Montlake, down Hotwater, and then the Lee, May, Armstrong loop. A metric from Kmart, call it 40+ from Falling Water. Lots of ways to short it. Optional climb up the front of Signal at the end will get strong men to 75.

Saturday February 10th

Rain, rain go away. Depending on what weather app you use, Saturday is either a total washout or there’s a small window of opportunity between 8 and 12 pm. So for those Bubba’s desperate for a ride plan on rolling from Unum at 8:30. Route tbd by those that show up. Ride at your own risk.
