TB Sunday

Roll from Signal Rd Aldi @ 1:30.   Head north via regular route with a few twists to foot washing church, down to Dallas Hollow, Armstrong, climb Hotwater and back.   I know, I know, lots of the same old stuff but we need a makeup route with lots of ways to jump on and off and a lower traffic climb since we’ll be going up mid-afternoon.   Jump on in falling water around 2:05.   Full route 54 miles and 3800 feet.  Those with more time will add a climb up the front of Signal to get it to a metric and 4500+.  We’ll keep this one moving with one stop after we descend montlake.

Sat 2/8

Weatherman keeps changing his mind so here’s what we’re throwing out BUT CHECK BACK IN THE MORNING FOR CHANGES.   ROLL FROM MIKES’ HOLE IN THE WALL AT 10:00 – REMEMBER TO PARK IN THE LOT ON CHILHOWEE STREET.   We’ll try to stay warm early on the Dry Valley rollers, climb 136 but minimize our time on top by dropping down the other side right away and coming back on the Creek Rd rollers.     All this is contingent on the temps (and rain of course) and BeezleBub is working on alternatives.   (I told him to work in a place where most of us can get to the cars at mile 60 instead of doing the full 150 mile route I expect he has in mind.)   The map is of the posted route (ignore the Unum start – we’ll be starting at Mike’s).

Sat 2/1

Roll from Signal Rd Aldi at 8:30 for 70+ or jump on in Falling Water around 9:05 for 50+.    We’ll climb Retro, HON, 10 longest miles across Mowbry, and descend Montlake.  Post- ride refueling at Mervs.

TB Weekend

I knew I shouldn’t have shaken Willie’s hand at the Chimney Ride because I think I caught Renee fingers from him!    (For newer Bubbas it’s actually Raynaud fingers but, well, we re-named it more appropriately.)      For Bubbas who still have good blood flow in their extremities, the Elite ride tomorrow is a good option if you promise to behave.    For those of us with Renee, roll Sat from Mike’s Hole at 10 for the dreaded Riverview Hills for as long as our toes and fingers last – somewhat boring but we’ll get plenty of exercise and stay as warm as possible on a sub-40 day.

Makeup ride rolls Sunday @ 2 from Mikes.    Toe, Elder climb, climb out of Raccoon, then Cummings and 299.     Depending on how fast we go we may have time for a trip up Lookout to Sanders at the end.    Without Sanders it’s 50 miles, 3100 feet, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, 50 DEGREES!

Survival Sunday

Tough planning around church, the weather, and the Titans but Bubba will do the best he can.  Roll at 12:30 and then again at 2:00 from Suck Creek Cycle.   12:30 route climbs the front of Signal and returns to Suck for the 2:00 roll.  2:00 route does 15 miles of the riverview hills.  Should be back to Suck Creek by 3:15 for game at Mikes.  Those who could care less about football do another loop or until their toes get too cold (39 but feels like 33).   If too cold to climb Signal  the 12:30 group will do a warm up lap of the hills.

Sat/Sun

Well, I was hoping the weather man would change his mind but it doesn’t look like he will. So, no ride for tomorrow. Check back Saturday night for a Sunday post – if the weatherman is correct and it “feels” like 35 degrees at 2:00 Sunday, we’ll probably roll from Mike’s Hole for the north chatt hills since that’ll be about the only way to stay warm. The good news is we did steal a week or two from winter so heck, counting weekends and TVA holidays it’s only like 2 weeks until spring!

Sunday

Roll from Signal Rd Aldi @ 2:00.   Out mtn creek to tie into Tuesday night route (Card Rd option) with a climb up Hotwater.   Joint ride so winter base.   Should be in the 45 range.  Add on climb up Signal at the end.   Anyone on Signal wanting to ride down roll from Pumpkin Patch @ 1:45 for around 55 with 2 climbs.

Sat/Sun

50 mph winds are enough to blow Bubba’s a$$cot all over the road!  Sat ride canceled.  Roll Sunday @ 2:00 from Signal Rd Aldi.

Sat 1/11

If dark sky is correct about the window in the morning, TB will roll from Mike’s at 9:00 and head north for the Montlake climb/Armstrong short loop we did a few months ago.   55 miles, 3600 feet.   We’ll check the radar and may add a climb up Hotwater on the way back through Soddy.    If the weather is still iffy TB will join the Elite route IF THERE ARE PROMISES TO BEHAVE.   Check the website in the morning for any updates.
